BIOGRAPHY

Trish Mitchell is a British–South African oil painter based in the Cotswolds. Working within the classical realist tradition, she is known for refined floral compositions that explore light, restraint, and the quiet architecture of form.

After an early career in commerce, she trained in classical oil painting and now works exclusively in oils, developing carefully composed still lifes rooted in observation and discipline. Her practice is slow and deliberate, shaped by a sensitivity to proportion, negative space, and tonal restraint.

Educated at Roedean School in Johannesburg — sister school to Roedean Brighton — her formative years were influenced by cultivated gardens and architectural elegance. In 2023, she relocated from Cape Town to the English countryside, a landscape that now anchors her work in seasonal light and botanical specificity.

Her paintings are held in private collections in the UK, the United States, and South Africa. Conceived as modern heirlooms, each work is composed to endure — and to hold space with authority.
